7 Amazingly Fun Summer Activities You Can Do in the Lou!
School might be starting soon, but that doesn’t mean that summer is anytime close to over yet! There’s still PLENTY of time to get out there and explore the beautiful city of St. Louis, and there are tons of really great activities to do! We’ve come up with a quick list of 7 summer activities you can do in the city (even though there are COUNTLESS of fun, exciting ideas!). Make a list and start checking it off today!
Visit the Zoo – Summer St. Louis just isn’t complete without at least one stop at the zoo! Check out your favorite animals from the adorable penguins to the too-cool-for-school lions and tigers and the perky and peppy African Painted Dogs! You can also bring the kiddos along to see the new Tasmanian Devil Den in the Children’s Zoo. Oh, and don’t forget about Shark Week from August 1-7! Visit those “jawesome” sharks and high-five a stingray or two. In fact, if you dress up as a shark, you can get into Stingrays at Caribbean Cove for F-R-E-E!
Cheer on the Cards at Busch Stadium – Summertime in the Lou means baseball and lots of it! Cheer on our very own Cardinals and enjoy an ice-cold beer and some classic game day food with your friends and family. Watch fireworks light up the sky whenever on of our boys in red hits a homer and sends the crowd into a frenzy! Be sure to check out the schedule to get tickets to an upcoming game.
Take in a Show at the Muny in Forest Park – There’s still PLENTY of time to see a show at the Muny! You can come check out Fiddler on the Roof, one of the greatest, most poignant musicals ever created, from July 30 to August 5, or make plans to check out Aida, a Muny smash hit featuring the songs of Elton John!
Take a Sunday Brunch Cruise on the Gateway Arch Riverboat – Who doesn’t just love brunch?! Carve out some time on your next Sunday to relax and rejuvenate on the Mississippi River boat, and take in the scenic St. Louis skyline. You’ll be pampered with a fully-catered brunch and plenty of fun live music! Tickets are $45 for adults, $18 for children ages 3-12, and free for kids under the age of 3.
Enjoy Some Blues at the Arch Concert Series – Live music, the Arch, and amazing local food and drinks – what more could you want? Head over to Luther Ely Smith Square on Friday, August 12, 19, or 26 and enjoy some live music for FREE! You’ll get to take in the amazing sounds of local blues artists, all while enjoying the stunning sights of the Old Courthouse and the Gateway Arch in the background. It’s the perfect way to end the work week!
Celebrate St. Louis at the World’s Fair Heritage Festival – Show how much you love St. Louis by checking out the annual World’s Fair Heritage Festival at the World’s Fair Pavilion in historic Forest Park! This FREE event will take place August 19 and 20 and features all of the awesome things we just love about St. Louis including local musicians, performers, and artists, food trucks, and all sorts of things highlighting our wonderful diversity, history, and, of course, creativity. Don’t miss it!
Festival of Nations – St. Louis is home to some of the most diverse and dynamic people around the world, so come out and celebrate it all at the Festival of Nations on August 27 and 28! Jam out to some of the best world music around and eat your way around the world as you try out over 40 ethnic food booths. Don’t forget to stop by the World Bazaar to bring home a fun and colorful gift from somewhere around the world!
Once you’re done having fun in the Lou, don’t forget to come on over to Social House and unwind with some of the most delicious food in the city, served up by absolutely gorgeous girls! You can even catch the game on one of our giant flat-screen TVs! We can’t WAIT to see you!
